BIOGRAPHY
Lucy Pao is the Palmer Endowed Chair Professor in the Electrical, Computer, and Energy Engineering Department at the University of Colorado Boulder. She earned B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. Her research has primarily focused on engineering control systems, with applications ranging from atomic force microscopes to multi-megawatt wind energy systems.
She is a Fellow of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and IFAC (International Federation of Automatic Control).
Selected recent awards include the 2017 Control Engineering Practice Award from the American Automatic Control Council (AACC), the Scientific Award 2017 from the European Academy of Wind Energy, and the 2019 Nyquist Lecturer Award from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers’ Dynamic Systems & Control Division. Selected current professional society activities include being a Fellow of the Renewable and Sustainable Energy Institute, an IFAC Technical Board member, and an AACC Awards Nominating Committee member.
